We have been doing some investigation into Permits on Private Streets. Namely why we’ve been getting them through as Permits since 1 July (understood now) and what we’re meant to do with them (three different pieces of advice and HAUC England recommendation later, we’re now just about clear).
As Street Manager doesn’t process notices, only Permits, the decision was taken to get everything through as Permits – Permits require a decision which puts us in an awkward position for works on Private. The HAUC England recommendation is that works on Private Streets are left to Deem. But as you know, still results in a Grant. They recognise they need to do work on this in the future.
My concern though is if we allow these Permits to Deem, I think I’m right in thinking that the Permit Status on ELGIN will read Granted? This may cause us some issues with some crafty users particularly if the Utility hasn’t consulted them (they tell us they would but they can’t promise they will) – they’ll just see the works have been approved.
Obviously this isn’t unique to Dorset Council.Forgive me if you’re already aware of this and exploring options, but, could one.network recognise Permits that are sent to the “Dorset Private Streets” Authority and either remove the Permit Status info from the works or show a covering statement? If not possible on the works info, can be liability statement be included in your legal information?
