Can you add "Footpath Closures" to your TM list within your choice of traffic management

I wonder if you would consider adding a field to your list of TM within your choice of traffic management.

There is a difference between a footway and footpath (public right of way, bridleway or byway open to all traffic etc.)

  1. footway, a pavement or a pathway runs adjacent or parallel to the carriageway for pedestrians and other users.
  2. footpath usually runs as a connecting right of way between 2 roads (like a jitty/alleyway/snicket etc.) or connecting other footpaths.

I would like to request you add a Footpath Closure to the list.  I know this may sound a little picky but there is a difference and may cause confusion to non-highway experienced users.

    Hi,

The Street Works team in Leicestershire County Council think this option could be useful, especially if this facility could also be facilitated within Street Manager.

An update on when this is likely to be implemented would be helpful.

    Kind Regards,

You are directing this request to the wrong people. This needs to be added to Street Manager first. I did try and ask but got told that this was the responsibility of HAUC instead of deciding if it was a good idea then asking for agreement from the relevant committee. If everyone starts raising it on the Street Manager Slack they might do something.

We would like this too in Wiltshire.

Seconded by Oxfordshire CC (tom.scholes@oxfordshire.gov.uk). This would be really useful and has been requested by our Countryside Access Team. Happy to consult/test on this if that would help. Otherwise, we have to build a separate internal system and process...
